Challenges continues for Sam Paley

Unfortunately, these were the last few moments of my Mazda MX-5 Cup career. This was one of the biggest shunts of my life, and I’m really thankful to Mazda Motorsports and Flis Performance for building such a safe car. This incident leaves myself, my family, and my supporters in a very deep financial hole that’s gonna hurt for awhile, but sometimes that’s just the way it goes in this sport. This race also topped off a phenomenal stretch of being taken out in 3 straight races. Just can’t find the luck…

I’m really disappointed that it had to end this way and despite receiving 9 podiums and 4 poles over the last 2.5 years, I’m even more disappointed I never got my elusive win. I feel I more than deserved it on multiple occasions, but unfortunately with the way the cars run in this series, the best driver on the day does not always win.

I’m very disappointed in the lack of respect many drivers in this series have for each other, and I frankly have developed some safety concerns for the series after seeing the madness this year. However, the Mazda MX-5 Cup is still the most entertaining series to watch in the world, and it was always so much fun to be apart. Huge thanks to McCumbee McAleer Racing, my teammates, The Money Lap, Mazda Motorsports, EC Sports Management, and all my supporters that supported my MX-5 Cup career throughout the years. I wish all my fellow competitors the best of luck for the rest of the season, and I wish @802woody (Woody Heimann) a speedy recovery after today.

I’m not sure what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, I will never give up.
